Everybody Writes!
At Tortworth we all enjoy days when everybody writes for a purpose. This is often preceded by a "No Pens" session though, when we do some really good quality speaking and listening. We know that this REALLY helps us when we do put pencil to paper. Following a second visit from Storybox Theatre company, we all delved into storytelling and produced some puppet shows in mixed age groups.
Science
On Tuesday 17th May, we had an amazing morning with the Explorer Dome team. See photos below and read what Joe in Year 2 had to say about his experience...
"When you went through the little tunnel it was creepy but inside it was really light. It rained in the rainforest. It was smelly in the dump. The best bit was going through the tunnel!"
Mathematics
Following our amazing visit from The Storybox Travelling Theatre Company on Wednesday 9th February 2011, Tortworth children were shocked to discover a GIANT footprint in the Tortworth Garden!
The children on the scene first were from Class 1...they diligently delivered the incredible news to the other two classes.
This prompted a flurry of activity, including measuring, comparing and even the creation of a beanstalk! The footprint itself measured 1.6metres. Staff report that no such big footed person had been seen on site...
